Essay inspired by “Makes the whole world kin” by O’Henry
Good day, ladies and gentlemen. Do you like the story? This is the first question that I'll tell you about. My answer is: so, so. Pros are that the story has a number of funny moments. Cons are about the thing, that the story is quite forced and has no attitude towards the real life. But it still could happen. Anyway I like the moment when the citizen said: “I can tell when a streak of humidity the size of a table-cloth starts from Florida on its way to New York…” due to his rheumatism. It's funny, isn't it? I think that the author wanted to tell us about “a connecting power of the mutual hardship”. I mean that whether you are friends or not, if you have some common problems, you would be filled with the sense of mutual solidarity. So, I suppose it's the idea of the story. It's also reflected in the title. But as for me, I would change it for “The connecting power of the mutual hardship”.
